Six teens arrested for racing, performing reckless motorcycle stunts on Second Link Expressway

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested six teenagers for performing dangerous motorcycle stunts on the Second Link Expressway here on Saturday morning (Dec 13).

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the arrests were made at KM16 of the Second Link Expressway (southbound).

“Six teenage boys aged 15 to 18 were detained after being caught racing while lying prone on their motorcycle and performing dangerous stunts, disregarding their own safety as well as that of other road users.

“Twelve summonses were issued to the teenagers, and all motorcycles involved were seized,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

He added that the teenagers would be released on police bail this evening after investigations are completed.

“This case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a maximum jail term of five years and a fine of up to RM15,000 if convicted.

“The operation will be intensified, and stern action will be taken against reckless street riders who endanger public safety. I also strongly warn teenagers against engaging in such immoral activities.

“Parents and guardians are urged to monitor their children’s movements, especially at night. Do not wait until it’s too late, better to prevent than regret later,” he stressed.
