Sabah Finance Minister to table Budget 2026 less than two weeks after polls

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s newly elected Finance Minister is set to table the state Budget less than two weeks after the conclusion of the state elections.

Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic), who was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister II and Finance Minister on Dec 1, is ready to present the 2026 Budget at 3pm on Friday (Dec 12).

Masidi, along with his deputies Datuk Ben Chong and Datuk Mohd Ishak Ayub, completed final checks on the Budget 2026 document, titled ‘driving development, people’s wellbeing prioritised’, on Wednesday (Dec 10).

The document was presented by his permanent secretary Datuk Sofian Alfian Nair, together with deputy permanent secretary (development) Chee Shok Ting and budget division secretary Mohd Faizal bin Mohd Tahir.

The Budget sitting will be held from Dec 12 to Dec 17.
