Jafry Ariffin appointed as new Sabah Umno chairman


KUALA LUMPUR: Sukau assemblyman Datuk Jafry Ariffin has been appointed as the new chairman of the Sabah Umno Liaison Committee on Wednesday (Dec 10).

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the appointment of Jafry, who is also Sabah's Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, was agreed to by Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, in accordance with Clause 12.5 of the Umno Constitution.

Asyraf also announced the appointment of Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Hasnol Ayub as the party's deputy chairman and Kalabakan Umno division chief Samasuddin Yusop as party secretary for Sabah.

“The appointments are made to ensure administrative continuity, strengthen party coordination and better organise Umno’s operations in Sabah effectively.

“Umno is calling on all leaders and members to give their full support to the new leadership line-up to ensure the party continues serving the people and supporting the Sabah state government,” he said in a statement on Wednesday
