Sabah to revamp GLCs for stronger governance and SMJ 2.0 goals, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will be comprehensively restructuring its government-linked companies (GLCs), including chairpersons and board members, to strengthen corporate governance and accountability, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Hajiji said the move is aimed at injecting new leadership to boost performance and drive the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 development goals.

"The goal is to transform GLCs into effective and trustworthy economic engines through competent management to generate greater value for the people and the state," he said in a statement on Sunday (Dec 7).

He stressed the need for dynamic, professional, and results-driven leadership teams to steer GLCs through a new era focused on strategic investments, digitalisation, new energy and social development.

"We acknowledge the contributions of past leadership, but a revamp is necessary for effective transformation and continuity. Our sole objective is to ensure a stable, prosperous, and secure future for Sabah and the people, in line with the aspirations of SMJ 2.0," he added.

The revamp follows the Nov 29 state elections, which saw Hajiji’s Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition retain power alongside its partners in the new state government.
