Gang behind cargo thefts taken down


MARAN: Police have arrested six members of the “Geng Bhai” gang, believed to be behind a string of cargo robberies and vehicle thefts in Pahang that caused losses of RM659,000 since October.

Pahang deputy police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said the arrests were made under Ops Kargo after several cases involving the robbery of trailer lorries carrying iron and PVC cables, as well as vehicle thefts..

Bernama reported that between Nov 21 and 29, police raided locations in Senawang, Klang and Bentong, detaining six men aged 24 to 56, all with criminal and drug records.

Officers also seized four trailer lorries, a lorry, two cars, 10 drums of PVC cable and several cutting tools.

The gang allegedly targeted loaded trailer lorries parked by the roadside, tying up drivers and relocating them before making off with the vehicles. A stolen forklift from Temerloh was also used to unload goods at a rented premises in Senawang.

Azry Akmar said that the gang was led by a 56-year-old with an extensive history in cargo crime currently on parole in Bentong until March 2026.
