KUCHING: The Sarawak government has announced special financial aid of two months' salary for civil servants in the state.

Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg said the aid is based on the last basic salary as at November 2025, with payments scheduled for December involving a total financial implication of RM131mil.

He added that the second-phase salary increment under the Public Service Remuneration System of 7%, effective Jan 1, 2026, would involve a financial implication of RM56mil.

For federal civil servants, he announced a one-off RM700 payment, to be made in the first quarter of 2026, with an estimated financial implication of RM98mil.

"My administration hopes these incentives will serve as motivation for civil servants to continue enhancing the quality of public service delivery to the people," he said when winding-up debate on Budget 2026 in the state legislative assembly here on Wednesday (Dec 3).

The state government also expressed its appreciation to state public service retirees through a one-off special payment of RM500 to each retiree, involving an allocation of RM50mil. – Bernama
