13 caught for unnatural sex, prostitution in Penang


BUTTERWORTH: A total of 13 men were arrested for their alleged involvement in unnatural sexual and prostitution activities at a commercial premises in Perai here on Saturday (Nov 29).

Central Seberang Perai OCPD Asst Comm Helmi Aris said the suspects were detained in the 7pm raid by police and the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) in Bandar Perai Jaya.

"We arrested nine local men and two foreign nationals aged 19 to 66, who are believed to be the customers," he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 30).

ACP Helmi said two locals - the owner and a worker, aged 57 and 59 - were also detained during the raid.

He said police seized items such as condoms, lubricants and several other devices related to the unnatural sexual activities.

He said other items that were confiscated were mobile phones containing pornographic material.

Further investigation found that the illicit activities took place on the upper floors of the three-storey building.

"The premises has a rest and spa spaces, as well as one partitioned space, which was converted into a place to conduct unnatural sexual acts.

"We believed that the premises has operated for the past two months," he added.

He said a check on past criminal records found that one of the suspects, a local, has a criminal record.

"All suspects have been remanded for six days until Dec 5," he said.
