Anwar thanks Indonesian envoy as latter ends service

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has expressed its highest appreciation to the Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Datuk Hermono, for his efforts in strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries throughout his service here.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with Malaysia, including in addressing major issues such as migrant workers and border control.

“Today (yesterday), I received a courtesy call from the Indo­nesian Ambassador to Malaysia Datuk Hermono, who will be completing his service and returning to Jakarta.

“Malaysia remains committed to continuing to strengthen close cooperation with Indonesia for the benefit and well-being of the people from both countries,” Anwar wrote in a Facebook post.

Hermono, a career diplomat, was appointed as ambassador in 2020 and previously served as Indonesia’s deputy ambassador to Malaysia from 2013 to 2015.
