KAJANG: Police have remanded a driver who tested positive for drugs following a fatal accident that killed a family of three here on Wednesday (July 29).
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof confirmed that the man has been remanded for four days, until Aug 2.
He added that investigations remained under the Road Transport Act.
At 7.56am on Wednesday, a family of three was killed in a road accident after being involved in a head-on collision near Jalan Batu 17 in Hulu Langat.
“The 34-year-old motorcyclist, a mechanic, was travelling with his 32-year-old wife and their three-year-old son from their home in Batu 18, Hulu Langat, towards Nanding when the car allegedly entered their lane, resulting in a head-on collision.
“The impact threw all three victims from the motorcycle, and they were pronounced dead at the scene,” said ACP Naazron.
The driver of the car was subsequently arrested, and checks showed that he has two prior drug-related offences.
A further drug screening also came back positive for methamphetamine.
