PETALING JAYA: The Johor State Education Department (JPN Johor) has confirmed that a student did not register for the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) due to an incident related to bullying.
It said investigations showed the student left school in 2024 at the guardian’s request to pursue skills-based education.
The school, it added, had already taken the necessary actions to address the bullying incident.
“A special meeting between the District Education Office (PPD) and the student’s guardian concluded that the student will now sit for the SPM in 2026,” it said in a statement today (Nov 26).
The school’s Guidance and Counselling Unit has since assisted with the registration process for the student as an SPM 2026 candidate.
To ensure the student’s continued access to education and support, GiatMara has offered a full six-month sponsorship for a vocational training programme beginning January 2026.
Meanwhile, the district-level Parent, Community and Private Sector Involvement (PIBKS) committee has agreed to cover six months of room rental so that the student can participate in the programme without financial burden.
The state Education Department expressed its gratitude to the school, PPD, GiatMara and PIBKS for prioritising the student’s welfare and educational needs.
“JPN Johor remains committed to ensuring no student is left behind in sitting for the SPM examinations,” it said.
