KOTA KINABALU: Uniting Sabahans for a better future should not involve discrimination or exploiting the 3Rs of race, religion and royalty, says Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal
The Parti Warisan president said the basis of the formation of Malaysia was to unite the people and it was not right for leaders and political parties to play the race card.
He accused the state government of spending RM8mil on cybertroopers this year, and RM2mil last year, adding that the money should have been spent on development.
Speaking to reporters after launching Warisan’s election manifesto here on Sunday night, Shafie claimed Warisan had even been called an “illegal immigrant” party.
The manifesto focused on economic, social, education and health developments for the state.
On other matters, Shafie questioned how it was that rights enshrined under the Federal Constitution had to be claimed and pursued through court orders, adding that Sabah’s rights should be honoured and respected.
As to whether he was still not considering partnering with any side or individuals in the Sabah polls, the Semporna MP and Senallang incumbent assemblyman said: “We had worked with so many leaders and parties in the past and from the experience we have gone through, where has it got us? Sabah is still like this.”
