Higher Education Ministry: Institutions hit by floods to move classes online

PETALING JAYA: The Higher Education Ministry will allow higher education institutions affected by recent floods to conduct teaching and learning online.

In a statement on Monday (Nov 24), the ministry said floods had hit urban and residential areas.

It said several institutions were affected, disrupting campus operations.

“The ministry is closely monitoring the flood situation in several East Coast and northern states,” it said.

The ministry said this follows continuous heavy rainfall over the past few days.

“Flood operation rooms have been activated at affected institutions,” it added.

It said these will help students, staff and parents obtain the latest information.

They will also coordinate immediate aid, including food, temporary shelter and basic supplies.

The ministry urged all staff in affected areas to prioritise personal safety.

It said they should remain in safe areas and comply with directives from authorities and security agencies.

“The ministry prays all flood victims are granted strength and resilience in facing this test,” it said.
