SHAH ALAM: The High Court here has rejected a father's application to exhume the grave of a Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam Reserve Officer Training Unit (Palapes) cadet, Muhammad Amir Rusyaidi Muhamad Zaidi, who died a year ago.
Judge Roszianayati Ahmad ruled there was no discrepancy regarding the cause of death that would warrant exhumation and a new post-mortem, reported Sinar Harian.
However, the court permitted an inquest and ordered police to reopen investigations into the death of the eldest of four siblings.
In her judgment, Roszianayati said the application was dismissed as the cause of death had already been established.
She noted that several doctors at Hospital Shah Alam had examined and treated the deceased and confirmed - via affidavit - that the cause of death was heatstroke and multiple organ failure.
"It is undisputed that the deceased was brought to hospital at 5pm on Nov 10, 2024 and died at 2am three days later. Various examinations and clinical tests conducted during treatment showed he was severely dehydrated, which led to organ failure," she said.
Doctors also stated there were no other physical injuries apart from redness on the knee, which was not a contributing factor to death.
The UiTM student reportedly fainted during a training session on the parade ground on Nov 10, 2024, was subsequently hospitalised and died three days later.
