KOTA KINABALU: As the Sabah polls enter their first week of campaigning, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has stressed the importance of voting for a strong party that could form a stable government.
“There is no other way to ensure continuous development and proper handling of the people’s welfare than by forming a stable government.
“So, I hope Sabahans will go for the party with a good track record and together with the Federal Government in administering the state,” he said when met by reporters at Kg Binsulok in Membakut yesterday.
Mohamad said Barisan is entering the polls as an underdog because the coalition is not the state government in Sabah.
“It is important for the Barisan election machinery to work harder to compete against our opponents. If our machinery is managed well, a giant could fall. So let’s not feel small,” he said.
“A giant may not always win just because it is standing tall. We need to be like termites. If the termites unite, the giant can fall.”
Membakut is currently held by incumbent Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, since 2004.
Mohd Arifin will be defending the seat under Gabungan Rakyat Sabah in a 10-cornered fight against Barisan, Upko, Parti Impian Sabah, Sabah STAR, Warisan, Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah, Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri and two independents.
