Anwar given red carpet welcome on first visit to Ethiopia by Malaysian PM

ADDIS ABABA: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a red carpet welcome as he marked the inaugural visit of a Malaysian Prime Minister to Ethiopia on Wednesday (Nov 19).

The Prime Minister arrived at the National Palace here on Wednesday afternoon and was received on arrival by Ethiopia's Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali.

After inspecting the guard of honour, Anwar and Abiy were introduced to the Malaysian and Ethiopian delegates.

The two leaders then proceeded to plant an oil palm tree.

Anwar and Abiy then held a four-eyed meeting and a delegation meeting.

They will also be witnessing the signing of several memoranda of understanding that will be inked by Malaysia and Ethiopia.

This will be followed by an official dinner in Anwar's honour.

The Prime Minister is in Ethiopia for a three-day visit which ends Thursday (Nov 20).

Earlier, Anwar also visited the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum and attended the Malaysia-Ethiopia High Level Business Forum.
