Thunderstorms and heavy rain for five states and KL, says MetMalaysia


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across five states as well as Kuala Lumpur, with warnings in effect until 4pm on Sunday (Nov 16).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the affected states were Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Sabah.

Pahang districts of Bentong, Temerloh, Bera and Rompin are on alert for severe weather.

Selangor areas such as Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Hulu Langat are under the warning, along with Kuala Lumpur.

Negeri Sembilan districts of Jelebu and Jempol are expected to be affected.

Johor areas including Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru are forecasted to experience adverse conditions.

Sabah's Interior (Nabawan), Tawau (Tawau) and Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Sandakan) divisions are anticipated to be affected.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
