New KL mayor starts work today

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Fadlun Mak Ujud (pic) will clock in today as Kuala Lumpur’s 16th mayor, bringing with him over 28 years of experience in urban planning, regional development and city management.

He will be taking over from Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif, who has been redeployed to PETRONAS for a new role.

Having served as Putrajaya Corporation president in 2022, Fadlun’s appointment received the consent of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the appointment was made after considering Fadlun’s outstanding performance in the administrative city.

“I am confident that he will continue the leadership at Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) with integrity, efficiency and attentiveness, in line with the aspirations of urban folk,” she wrote on social media.

Dr Zaliha also expressed her appreciation to Maimunah, whose works had enhanced Kuala Lumpur’s image on the global stage.

PETRONAS had announced that Maimunah was appointed as its property adviser, effective Nov 17.
