KUALA LUMPUR: The Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry will continue to support initiatives that combine sports, nature, culture and tourism to promote Malaysia on the global stage, says its minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
In a Facebook post Sunday (May 31), Tiong highlighted the 5th Sarawak Nash Hash 2026 Fun Run organised by Sarawak Tropical Rainforest Hash Club, describing the event as a platform that promotes healthy lifestyles while showcasing Sarawak's unique natural and cultural attractions to both local and international visitors.
He said the event attracted participants from across Malaysia as well as overseas, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and fostering friendships that transcend geographical boundaries.
"To all our friends who travelled from abroad to Borneo and Sarawak, welcome to Malaysia. Thank you for making the journey to be part of this unique hashing experience.
"I hope that while enjoying the run, everyone also takes the opportunity to build friendships across borders. Events like this are not only about recreation and healthy living, but also about bringing people together and experiencing the natural and cultural richness that Sarawak has to offer," he said.
Tiong said he was encouraged to see the growing interest in the event and hoped future editions could be expanded further to attract more local and international participants.
The minister also expressed hope that participants would return to explore more of what Sarawak and the wider region have to offer including with their friends and families.
"May this be more than just a one-time visit. We look forward to welcoming you back again to explore more of what our region has to offer, and do bring along your friends and families on your next visit.
"Together, let us continue to discover the beauty of Sarawak and create even more wonderful memories in the heart of Borneo," he said. - Bernama
