Teluk Intan man nabbed for allegedly forging awards, titles

IPOH: A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Teluk Intan for allegedly forging honorary and ceremonial titles, along with falsifying documents.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Dr Bakri Zainal Abidin said the arrest was made on Wednesday (Nov 12) in an undercover operation codenamed “Ops Puyuh”.

He said the suspect, operating from a house in Taman Banjar Jaya, is believed to have created fake awards and documents linked to the Malaysian Ex-Police Association (PBPM) to deceive certain parties.

“The case is being investigated under Section 3 of Act 787 (Private Awards Act 2017), which provides for punishment for offences related to the unauthorised use or issuance of honorary awards.

“From the initial interrogation, the suspect admitted involvement in the forgery of honorary titles and unauthorised documents,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

ACP Bakri said the seized items include several documents, various certificates, emblems, and membership cards related to unauthorised organisations, photographs of the suspect in ceremonial attire with various fake honorary titles, a car with unauthorised honorary stickers and emblems, and a mobile phone.

He said the police view the forgery of honorary awards and ceremonial titles seriously, as it could mislead the public and tarnish the reputation of the royal institution and security forces.

“Be cautious of individuals or organisations offering or claiming to have honorary titles without official recognition from the authorities.

“Such matters are taken seriously and the community is urged to report any similar activities,” he said.
