Couple killed after motorcycle crashes into parked lorry on Pan Borneo Highway


SIBU: A married couple was killed after their motorcycle went out of control and crashed into the rear of a broken-down lorry parked by the roadside at Kilometre 97 of the Pan Borneo Highway near Spiring, Selangau, on Sunday night (Nov 9).

Mukah police chief DSP Muhammad Rizal Alias said the accident, occurred at about 7.45pm, and identified the victims as Kelly Baling, and his wife Belula Amin, both 28.

"Initial investigation revealed that the couple was travelling from Bintulu towards Selangau when their motorcycle went out of control and collided with the stationary lorry.

"Both victims sustained severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Selangau Health Clinic," he said in a statement on Monday (Nov 10).

The bodies were taken to Mukah Hospital for post-mortem examination, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Muhammad Rizal said police are tracing the owner and driver of the lorry to assist in the investigation.
