PUTRAJAYA: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry has launched the Kasih Madani 2.0 package to strengthen marriages and recognise fathers as family pillars.
The launch was officiated by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail with Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri in attendance at Putrajaya on Sunday (Nov 9).
Many families gathered to witness the ceremony.
In her opening speech, Dr Wan Azizah urged Malaysians to nurture warmth and understanding at home.
She warned that without strong bonds, younger generations risk being pulled away by the digital world.
“The family institution is an important foundation in developing the nation,” she said.
“Malaysia aims to nurture families that emphasise human values to shape ethical and responsible individuals,” added Dr Wan Azizah.
She said these individuals will be the future generations.
“There are many issues affecting children today, and our families must be the fortress to protect them,” she said.
She advised families to know what is happening to their children in school and who they are close to.
“We should monitor their social media activities and notice changes in emotions or behaviours,” she said.
The Prime Minister’s wife said children must feel able to open up to their families without fear of being judged.
She said simple acts of love such as a hug and a listening ear help keep families strong.
She added that her family gets together every week for quality time.
Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri introduced the Kasih Madani 2.0 package under the National Population and Family Development Board.
She said it aims to improve family dynamics through two main modules.
“The package includes Modul Romantika Cinta and Modul Kebapaan for newlyweds and fathers,” she said.
“The Modul Romantika Cinta ignites love in marriage and guides couples on communication and conflict resolution,” she added.
“The Modul Kebapaan focuses on fathers as leaders, protectors and providers,” she said.
In a press conference, the minister said focusing on fathers does not mean swapping roles with their wives.
She said it is about balancing responsibilities in the family.
“We usually have mothers doing the chores at home while the father is the breadwinner,” she said.
“In this module, we teach balance so both can contribute financially and attend to household needs,” she added.
A total of RM4.1bil has been allocated to the ministry under Budget 2026 for high impact and inclusive initiatives.
“What is important is that every cent spent must be meaningful and beneficial,” she said.
“Strengthening family values is not just a policy but the heartbeat of national well being,” she added.
The event began yesterday (Nov 8) with a fun run and interactive booths.
It concluded on Sunday (Nov 9).
