Man arrested for shattering car window over alleged affair

KLUANG: A 26-year-old man was arrested after he smashed a woman’s car window, allegedly believing she was having an affair with his father-in-law.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said police received a report from the 40-year-old woman on Oct 26, claiming that her car window had been broken by a man known to her in front of a restaurant here.

“Based on information, a team from the Kluang district police headquarters arrested the suspect in Jalan Kluang at about 4am on Thursday (Nov 6).

“Initial investigations found that the suspect acted out of anger after suspecting the victim of having an affair with his father-in-law,” he said in a statement.

He added that checks showed the suspect had one previous criminal record for a similar offence, and his urine test came back negative for drugs.

ACP Bahrin added that the suspect has been remanded for three days until Friday (Nov 7) to assist in investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief, which carries a jail term of up to seven years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.
