A MAN has finally fulfilled his 30-year dream of obtaining a law degree, Kosmo! reported.
S. Sivanesan from Kuching, Sarawak, celebrated the happy moment with his wife Fazilak Anak William Timri, 48, at the Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin convocation ceremony in Terengganu on Wednesday.
He said his ambition to further his studies could not be realised earlier due to financial and career constraints.
“Now, after 30 years, I have proven that age is no barrier in pursuing one’s ambitions,” he said.
The 50-year-old Sivanesan admitted that returning to study at an older age was not easy as he had to adapt to today’s learning environment.
The former journalist for a Sarawak-based news portal said he learnt a great deal from his younger classmates, who often helped and encouraged him throughout his studies.
> The daily also reported that singer Nubhan has filed for custody of his three children, aged between three and eight, at the Shah Alam Syariah High Court in Selangor.
The children are from his decade-long marriage to Dr Afifah Hidayah, whom he divorced in August.
Lawyer Mohd Redzuan Ramli said his client, whose full name is Ahmad Nubhan Ahamad, filed two applications last month seeking both permanent and interim custody.
“Following the first mention of our custody application, the lawyer representing Dr Afifah and the court registrar have agreed to set another date for both parties to discuss and try to resolve the matter amicably,” he said.
He added that there had been no disputes between the plaintiff and the defendant over custody matters.
Among the issues to be discussed were overnight visitation rights and Hari Raya visit arrangements, he said.
