Two motorcyclists killed, woman seriously injured in Sarikei hit-and-run


SARIKEI: Two motorcyclists died and a woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run involving two motorcycles and a car along Jalan Sare on Monday (Nov 3).

The State Fire and Rescue Department said it received an emergency call at 9.35am.

“Upon arrival, firefighters found the accident involved two motorcycles and a Hyundai Atos car,” the department said.

“Three victims — two men and one woman — were involved,” it added, saying that

two male victims were confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics.

The department added that the female victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to Sarikei Hospital for further treatment.

The deceased were identified as Nyaring Achang, 43, and Louis Asey, 58 while the

injured woman was identified as Seloma Joshua Bunsu, 58.

The department said the bodies were handed to the police for further action.

It said the injured victim was handed to the Health Ministry.

The driver of the car fled the scene after the crash.

Police are investigating to trace the suspect.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
