Probe into three cops completed

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have completed investigations into three policemen arrested for allegedly molesting and extorting a female student in Jalan Sentul Pasar, says Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus.

The Kuala Lumpur police chief said the investigation paper had been referred to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP).

“We have recommended for them to be charged under Sections 354 and 384 of the Penal Code. We are waiting for further instructions from the DPP,” he said when contacted yesterday.

He said the criminal investigation was being conducted concurrently with a disciplinary probe into the three policemen.

“They are only allowed to perform desk duties and not to be in the field pending a decision from the DPP,” he added.

It is believed that a group of policemen had cornered the girl and her boyfriend, threatening them that their lives would be “ruined” if the girl did not engage in sexual acts with one of the officers.

Apparently, they also asked for a payment of RM10,000.

A police report was lodged by the girl later.

On another issue, Comm Fadil said police seized about 18.5kg of ganja buds worth about half a million ringgit during a raid at a condominium car park.

A local man and woman, aged 47 and 56, were also arrested during the raid last Saturday in Old Klang Road, he added.

“A check on their vehicle led to the discovery of several packages containing 18.5kg of ganja buds worth RM553,500,” he said in a statement.

The seized drugs could have served about 37,000 users.

“The syndicate is believed to have been active since August by using condominium car parks as transaction points,” he said.

Initial urine tests on both suspects came back negative for drugs.

Both of them have been remanded for six days until Oct 31 to assist in investigations.
