KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in Perak and Kedah is gradually improving, with the number of evacuees in temporary relief centres reduced to 1,442 on Tuesday (Oct 28) morning, down from 1,514 the previous night.
In PERAK, the number of victims in three districts decreased to 437 from 128 families, compared to 467 victims from 136 families the previous night. All victims are being housed in six relief centres.
The Perak disaster management committee reported a slight increase in victims in the Larut, Matang and Selama district, with 38 victims, while the number of victims in the Manjung and Kerian districts remained stable at 247 and 152, respectively
In KEDAH, the number of victims also dropped to 1,005 from 282 families this morning, compared to 1,047 from 311 families last night.
The state disaster management committee said the affected areas are Pendang, Kota Setar, and Pokok Sena, with all victims sheltering at six relief centres.
Pendang recorded the highest number of victims, with 557 people from 156 families, followed by Kota Setar with 361 victims from 102 families, and Pokok Sena with 87 victims from 24 families.
In addition. the Public Infobanjir website reported that Sungai Pendang has surpassed the danger level, with a reading of 3.42m. – Bernama
