Cops looking for Butterworth man to help in suitcase murder probe


BUTTERWORTH: Police are seeking a local man to help with investigations after a body was found stuffed in a suitcase behind the Ampang Jajar Flats along Jalan Permatang Pauh on Oct 9.

North Seberang Perai OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Abd Rahman said the individual being sought is Ong Wei Hao, 41, whose last known address was at Villa Tanjung on Jalan Villa Tanjung here.

ACP Anuar said Ong is wanted to help with the probe under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

"Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the investigating officer, Asst Supt Norhaslinda Rahmat, at 04-576 2222, or the nearest police station," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 28).

It was reported that police had arrested four people, two men and two women, in the course of the investigation.

Penang police chief Comm Datuk Azizee Ismail reportedly said the arrests were made by a team from the Serious Crimes Division (D9) on Wednesday (Oct 22) in Butterworth and Kampar, Perak.

He said the suspects, aged 24 to 42, are also being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

On Oct 9, the body of a man with bound hands and slash wounds on the neck was found in a suitcase behind the flats.

The victim was later identified as 31-year-old Lee Boon Han, an insurance agent.
