Six houses razed in Teluk Intan fire

IPOH: Six houses along Jalan Mak Intan in Kampung Terengganu, near Teluk Intan, were gutted in a fire shortly after midnight on Sunday (Oct 26).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting operations chief Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said they received an emergency call at 12.40am.

Shazlean said a team from the Teluk Intan fire station, assisted by personnel from the Hutan Melintang Fire station as well as the Teluk Intan and Batu 12 volunteer fire brigades, was deployed to the scene and arrived within five minutes.

He said the blaze destroyed about 90% of the property and also involved three motorcycles, but no casualties were reported.

"The fire was brought under control at 1.12am and fully extinguished by 3.05am.

"The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still being determined,” he added.

Meanwhile, the state disaster management committee secretariat said 21 victims from four affected families have been relocated to a temporary relief centre at the Teluk Intan Municipal Council Hall. – Bernama
