PUCHONG: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd will rename six travel passes starting from Nov 1 to make them more recognisable as part of the Rapid network and to promote the use of the national language.

The six passes are Rapid Kembara (previously MyTourist), Rapid Kota (MyCity), Rapid Mesra (OKU Smile), Rapid Keluarga (Keluarga Malaysia), Rapid Pelajar (MyRapid Pelajar) and Rapid Emas (MyRapid Warga Emas).

Its president and group chief executive officer Amir Hamdan said the rebranding marks an important strategy to enhance the Rapid identity and make it more recognisable to users.

“This rebranding step is an important strategy to strengthen the Rapid identity and to make it comprehensive to users,” Amir said during the Santai Bersama Rapid KL 2.0 event at the Taman Perindustrian Puchong LRT station yesterday.

He said the rebranding is not just for visual purposes but to be aligned with the government’s commitment to elevate the use of the national language.

“This rebranding is also Prasarana’s initiative in support of Visit Malaysia 2026. For example, international visitors can use Rapid Kembara to explore the city easily,” he said.

At the event, Amir also launched #RakanRapid – a new initiative that celebrates the diversity of public transport users while strengthening the Rapid brand identity.

The campaign features a set of characters representing different commuter groups from students to families, senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

This is to reflect the inclusive spirit of public transport users.

“Rapid users are beyond public transport riders, they are part of our bigger community which we call as #RakanRapid.

“These characters will appear across our media platforms and gradually be featured on our products, representing the diverse groups of people who use our services in their daily lives,” he said.

When asked about the rollout mechanism for the new passes, Amir said existing cardholders can continue using their current cards, but receipts will reflect the new pass names.

“New concession cardholders will receive the rebranded cards. There will be no new physical cards for non-concessional ones,” he added.

Besides announcing the new initiative, Amir said the event also provides an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to showcase their products, ranging from food to lifestyle items.

“The participation of 35 local entrepreneurs shows our commitment to support the community and boost the local economy around our service areas,” he said.

Separately, Amir told Bernama that the recent service disruptions to the Putrajaya MRT were caused by cable theft near the Kuchai station in Kuala Lumpur.

He said technical teams, alongside the original equipment manufacturers, are still repairing the damage.

In the meantime, 18 trains on the line are currently operated manually while 40 free shuttle buses have been deployed to provide bridging services.
