KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police are fully prepared to maintain public safety and ensure smooth operations during the 17th state election in November, says State Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun.
A total of 8,900 personnel, including 1,200 from Sarawak and Bukit Aman, will be deployed statewide.
“Preparations covered all aspects, including public order, logistics and inter-agency coordination, with operations progressing smoothly.
"We have held several coordination meetings with the Election Commission (EC) and other agencies to streamline roles during the election,” he told reporters on Wednesday (Oct 22).
Polling is set for Nov 29, with nomination on Nov 15 and early voting on Nov 25.
Jauteh said police are also preparing for challenges in remote or island areas, especially disruptions related to the northeast monsoon.
All parties are urged to comply with election regulations and avoid provocative acts. – Bernama
