Two men arrested over Penang double murder, weapon found in back of house


GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested two men over the murders of a woman and her daughter here.

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the suspects, a local and a foreign national, both in their 40s, were detained separately on Monday (Oct 20).

"The suspects have been remanded for seven days until Oct 26, he said.

Azizee also said a weapon was found at the back of the victims' house.

"Police have found a weapon believed to have been used in the incident.

"However, the investigation is still ongoing and I cannot comment on the type or condition of the weapon," he told Sinar Harian.

On Saturday (Oct 18), a 51-year-old kuih seller and her 11-year-old daughter were found dead.

Their bodies were discovered by the woman's husband at about 7.30pm at their rented house in Kampung Sekolah in Juru here.

Police obtained a remand order for the 57-year-old husband for a week until Oct 25.
