Man remanded for seven days over murder of wife, daughter


BUKIT MERTAJAM: The husband of a woman and her daughter found murdered in Juru has been remanded for seven days to assist police investigations.

The remand order against the 57-year-old man was issued by Magistrate Roshayati Radellah at the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court on Sunday (Oct 19).

It was learnt that the suspect is a factory security guard and was detained to assist investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Police have yet to confirm whether he is the main suspect or the motive behind the murders.

On Saturday (Oct 18), a mother and daughter were found brutally killed at their rented home.

The woman’s body was discovered in the ground floor kitchen with her head nearly severed.

Her daughter was found face down and covered in blood upstairs in the partially wooden house.

Their bodies were discovered by the husband at about 7.30pm.

Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed the incident.
