Body in suitcase: Three witnesses give statements to cops


GEORGE TOWN: Police have recorded statements from three people to assist in their investigation of an insurance agent's murder in Ampang Jajar last week.

Penang police chief Comm Datuk Azizee Ismail said investigations are still ongoing to identify the suspect.

"So far, three witnesses have had their statements recorded, including the person who discovered the victim’s body and vehicle at the scene," he said after launching the Royal Malaysia Police Penang International 2nd Bridge Solidariti Fun Ride at state police headquarters on Friday (Oct 17)

Comm Azizee said police are also intensifying efforts to make an arrest.

They are also looking into claims that the victim was taken to a bank before going missing, he added.

The victim was reported missing on Oct 8.

On Oct 9, the body of a man with bound hands and slash wounds on the neck was found stuffed inside a suitcase behind the Ampang Jajar Flats.

It was also reported that the victim’s head was covered with a plastic bag.

A cleaner found the body at 1.43pm.

The deceased was later identified as 31-year-old Lee Boon Han, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
