Pupil's injuries not linked to bullying, but accident while playing, Sipitang school clarifies

KOTA KINABALU: SK Padang Berampah in Sipitang clarifies that a viral image showing an injured pupil was not related to bullying or a fight but was the result of an accident that happened while the child was playing.

Headmaster Ag Ku Jaundin Ag Wahab said he took full responsibility over the incident, giving his assurance that the school had taken immediate action to provide medical treatment for the injured pupil.

“Initial investigations found that the incident was not caused by bullying or fighting, but rather an accident that occurred when the pupil was playing,” he said in a statement Thursday (Oct 16).

He said the school immediately sent the pupil to hospital for treatment, and the photo that had gone viral was taken during the trip to the hospital.

“The pupil’s parents were informed of the incident immediately,” he added.

Ag Ku Jaundin said the school would continue to prioritise students’ safety and welfare and implement improvements to prevent similar incidents in future.
