EC says Sabahans in Peninsula and Sarawak must return to vote

KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans living in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak must return to cast their votes on November 29, says Election Commission chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun

He said the Commission has not discussed the matter, adding that no decision has been made.

“So, Sabahans outside the state within Malaysia still have to return to vote,” said Ramlan.

There are an estimated 200,000 Sabahans residing outside the state, and many have expressed hope to carry out postal voting this time.

This is due to cost and time constraints, as shared on social media.

Ramlan said this after announcing the polling date for Sabah on Nov 29, with early voting on Nov 25.

Nomination Day is on Nov 15.

He said the dates were chosen based on logistical and other factors, including examination sessions.

“The polling day falls on a Saturday, so there will be no clash between SPM and voting,” he said.
