Sabah polls: EC sets Nov 29 for polling day, Nov 15 for nomination


KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission (EC) has set Nov 29 for polling in the Sabah state election.

EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said nominations for the election had been set for Nov 15 and early voting on Nov 25.

The EC has appointed a total of 25 returning officers and they will be tasked with handling the polling process for 73 state constituencies.

As of Oct 5, there are a total of 1,784,843 registered voters in Sabah, of which 1,760,417 are public voters, 11,697 Armed Forces and their spouses, 12,729 police officials and their spouses as well as the General Operations Force.

According to a statement by the EC on Thursday (Oct 16), the campaign period will run for 14 days from Nov 15 up to 11.59pm on Nov 28.

On Oct 6, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced the dissolution after receiving the consent of the Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman.
