Anwar inspects preparations for upcoming 47th Asean Summit at KLCC

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim inspected preparations for the upcoming 47th Asean Summit, which will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) at the end of this month.

The Prime Minister spent more than 30 minutes on Monday (Oct 13) scrutinising the preparations at the main summit location, including the setup of the conference hall, media facilities, and security arrangements to ensure smooth proceedings throughout the summit.

Accompanying Anwar were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and Foreign Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Amran Mohamed Zin.

Also present were Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) acting deputy editor-in-chief (news service) Mohd Shukri Ishak, and news service executive editor, Mohd Haikal Isa.

During the inspection, Anwar was also briefed by Mohamad on the logistical preparations and key facilities that will be used by Asean leaders and international delegations, including the main hall where the leaders' summit will take place.

The 47th Asean Summit is scheduled to take place from Oct 26 to 28, marking the culmination of Malaysia's Asean chairmanship for 2025 themed "Inclusivity and Sustainability".

The summit will bring together all 10 leaders of Asean member states along with dialogue partners and invited guests.

Anwar previously stated that the 47th ASEAN Summit and its related summits are expected to be among the largest in the history of the regional bloc's organisation. - Bernama
