NILAI: Gleneagles Hospital Johor (GHJ) celebrated a milestone with the graduation of the first group of Diploma in Nursing students from Nilai University under its Nursing Sponsorship programme.
Launched in 2022, the programme was created to nurture Malaysia’s next generation of healthcare professionals by offering aspiring nurses full education sponsorship and a clear career pathway.
Students under the sponsorship received full tuition coverage, monthly allowances, comprehensive medical benefits and guaranteed employment with GHJ upon graduation.
The first cohort was honoured during Nilai University’s 26th Convocation Ceremony recently, which was graced by the presence of Nilai University's chancellor Prof Emeritus Tengku Datuk Shamsul Bahrin and vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Azhar Ismail.
Speaking at the ceremony, GHJ deputy chief executive officer Sipika Singh said, “This initiative is about identifying nursing students with the capability and passion to serve.
“By providing both financial and career support, we are addressing the nursing shortage in a way that creates long-term impact for the healthcare sector.”
“What began as a small step at Nilai University in 2022 has now grown into a proud moment with our first group of graduates. Moving forward, this effort will also contribute to broader IHH Healthcare Malaysia initiatives aimed at scaling such programmes nationwide, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled nurses for Malaysia.”
Gleneagles Hospital Johor, part of IHH Healthcare Malaysia’s network of 18 hospitals nationwide, remains committed to advancing healthcare education and creating opportunities for aspiring professionals who will strengthen the healthcare workforce and contribute to the well-being of the community.
