Peeping Tom sentenced to six months jail


KUALA NERUS: A worker was sentenced to six months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here after pleading guilty to trespassing into an inn and peeping on a woman entrepreneur in a bathroom, an incident that recently went viral on social media.

Magistrate Noor Mazrinie Mahmood handed down the sentence after 29-year-old Ahmad Farhan Rizal Abdullah admitted to both charges yesterday.

Ahmad Farhan was charged with peeping at a 36-year-old woman with the intent to outrage her modesty at an inn in Manir, near Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, at 12.30am on Aug 26.

The offence under Section 509 of the Penal Code carries a maximum five-year jail term, a fine or both, upon conviction.

He was also charged with criminal trespass for unlawfully entering premises used as a residence on the same date, time and location.

The charge under Section 448 carries a maximum penalty of three years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both.

The court sentenced Ahmad Farhan to six months for the peeping charge and three months for trespassing, with senten­ces to run concurrently from the date of conviction.
