House destroyed in afternoon blaze, no casualties reported


PETALING JAYA: A single-storey house was almost completely destroyed in a fire at Batu 8, Sijangkang, near Telok Panglima Garang, Kuala Langat, on Friday (March 27).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said firefighters received an emergency call at about 2.10pm and arrived at the scene eight minutes later.

“The fire involved a Class C residential structure measuring about 20 by 60 square feet, with approximately 90% of the house destroyed,” he said in a statement.

The blaze was brought under control at around 2.40pm.

“No casualties were reported in the incident,” he added.

A total of nine personnel from the Telok Panglima Garang Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by a team from the Andalas station, were deployed to the scene.

Three fire engines, including two Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) units and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, were involved in the operation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
