SANDAKAN: Sabah police have stepped up preparations and placed all units on heightened alert as the state braces for a looming election, with top leadership meeting here earlier this week to map out strategies to safeguard public order and security.

The full-day Commissioner’s Leadership Meeting, chaired by Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun, brought together department heads, formation leaders, and OCPDs from across the state to refine crime prevention plans and coordinate security operations ahead of the polls.

In his opening address, Jauteh underscored the importance of proactive planning to ensure the election proceeds without incident.

“Comprehensive strategies to maintain law and order are essential, and every district must be ready to respond swiftly to emerging challenges,” he said.

The meeting saw district police chiefs presenting detailed security plans for their respective jurisdictions, with discussions covering current threats, strategies to curb crime, and efforts to tighten border controls amid heightened security concerns.

A recognition ceremony followed, where Jauteh presented certificates of appreciation to officers and civilian staff for their dedication and contributions behind the scenes.

Among those present were Sabah Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Abdul Rani Alias, Sabah Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Azhar Hamin, Internal Security and Public Order Department chief Asst Comm Datuk Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek, and representatives from the National Security Council (NSC) Sabah.
