PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia has unveiled more than 25 market-ready innovations, highlighting the nation’s progress in moving beyond ideas and research to deliver real-world solutions.
Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Mohammad Yusof Apdal said the new technologies – showcased at the Mimos Technology Preview (MTP) 2025 – align directly with Malaysia’s national priorities.
He said these include the National Semiconductor Strategy, New Industrial Master Plan, National Energy Transition Roadmap and the Malaysia Plans, namely the 12th Malaysia Plan and the upcoming 13th Malaysia Plan.
“The technologies we showcase today are not just inventions but investments in our future.
“These frameworks express a bold ambition so that Malaysia rises as a globally competitive digital nation – one that empowers local talent, scales up local innovations and ensures that Malaysian solutions leave their mark on the world stage.
“Do not let these innovations remain ideas on paper or prototypes in the lab. Connect with Mimos. Connect with one another. Collaborate, co-create and bring these technologies to the marketplace,” he said when launching the MTP 2025 here yesterday.
Mohammad Yusof added that the ministry is proud to stand alongside Mimos in this mission.
He said through policies, roadmaps and funding mechanisms, they are building a platform where innovators and entrepreneurs can thrive to transform their research efforts into real-world impact.
Also present were Academy of Sciences Malaysia president Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen, Mimos Bhd president and group chief executive officer Dr Saat Shukri Embong and Mimos Bhd chairman Dr Jasmine Begum.
Among the technologies showcased were semiconductors and advanced electronics designed to strengthen Malaysia’s position in the global electrical and electronics value chain.
Others highlighted were artificial intelligence, blockchain and quantum technologies to support a future-proof digital economy, alongside new solutions in cybersecurity and green technologies.
Mimos also showcased healthcare and smart manufacturing innovations aimed at boosting productivity, efficiency and overall societal well-being.
Saat Shukri said Mimos is looking beyond the focus of technologies and products, and concentrating on the market’s pain points to provide specific solutions effectively.
“Technology is not something easy to understand, so we need to show it as an addressable solution for people to understand how it benefits their businesses and events like MTP can help with that,” he said.
Jasmine said Mimos is committed to helping local industries compete globally and reduce dependence on foreign technologies.
“Mimos is not innovating in isolation but wants to actively nurture an innovation ecosystem, empowering SMEs, start-ups and joint ventures, and transforming R&D into market-ready technologies to compete globally,” she said.
MTP 2025 carries special significance as it coincides with Mimos’ 40th anniversary, marking four decades of innovation, resilience and nation-building.
