Factory worker promises 12-year-old boy with free bicycle before sexual assault

SUNGAI PETANI: A factory worker is alleged to have lured a 12-year-old boy with the promise of a bicycle before sexually assaulting the victim.

The incident is believed to have occurred whilst the victim was with three male friends in the Ramlee Bukit Bintang housing area here at about 9pm on Monday (Sept 30).

Kuala Muda OCPD Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan told Sinar Harian that the victim was approached by an unknown man riding a motorcycle who offered him a free bicycle.

The victim then followed the suspect to a house in Taman Sri Astana and returned to the original location with a bicycle.

The suspect once again invited the victim to collect another bicycle and took him to a forested area near Kampung Serukam, where the victim is believed to have then been sexually assaulted, he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 1).

He said the victim, who is the third of four siblings, lodged a police report regarding the incident.

Following this, police arrested a 46-year-old factory worker who is believed to be linked to the case.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
