Malaysians can now check RON95 subsidy eligibility under Budi95


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians can now check their eligibility for the RON95 petrol subsidy under the Budi Madani (Budi95) initiative launched by the Finance Ministry

As of Thursday (Sept 25), the official www.budimadani.gov.my portal is open for eligibility checks and to view monthly subsidy usage balances.

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said checks are done automatically using the identity card number without new registration.

Users only need to insert their MyKad into the reader at the fuel pump for eligibility verification before payment.

Payments can be made using cash, credit, debit card or e-wallet.

The transaction receipt will display the subsidy amount borne by the government and the actual amount paid by the user.

The government expects savings of between RM2.5bil and RM4bil per year through the removal of blanket subsidies.

These savings will be channelled to targeted assistance such as Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) and Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA).

Key facts about Budi95:

The RON95 petrol subsidy targets Malaysian citizens aged 16 and above with an active driving licence.

The subsidy eligibility limit is 300 litres per month, based on findings by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

The subsidised price remains at RM1.99 per litre, while the market price without subsidy is around RM2.60 per litre.

Usage beyond the quota will be charged at the prevailing market price.

E-hailing drivers may apply for additional quota through the same portal.
