Mother of autistic boy found by side of Kesas Highway comes forward

SERDANG: The mother of a young autistic boy who was found sitting alone on the motorcycle lane of the Kesas Expressway has come forward.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the child was discovered at 9.13pm on Sept 19 by a motorcyclist on the highway.

"The boy was taken to the Puchong Jaya police station before being handed over to the Welfare Department," he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 22).

At about 10pm on Sept 21, a woman came to the Petaling police station in Kuala Lumpur to lodge a report claiming to be the boy's mother.

"Investigations revealed that at about 5.50pm on Sept 19, the boy stormed out of their house in Taman Sri Sentosa, Kuala Lumpur in anger. According to the mother, he would usually return home after such an incident but he did not this time," he said.

When the boy failed to return, his mother made an appeal on Facebook at around 6pm on Sept 21 seeking the public's help to locate him.

"About 30 minutes later, she received a call from a man who told her to contact the Puchong Jaya police station. Upon doing so, she was directed to the Welfare Department, which confirmed the boy was under their care at the paediatric ward of Shah Alam Hospital," he said.
