PETALING JAYA: 20dB Hearing, in collaboration with KidZania Kuala Lumpur, has launched the 20dB Learning Centre to raise awareness on the importance of hearing health from a young age.

The centre offers children hands-on experiences with sound, hearing tests and audiology role-play, encouraging them to understand how hearing works and why protecting it matters.

Through fun and interactive activities, children not only learn to recognise sounds but also get introduced to the role of audiologists in healthcare.

The launch was officiated by 20dB Hearing founder and group chief executive officer Mok Yong Yaw, together with distinguished guests, Health Ministry audiology head Dr Nur Azyani Amri, University Kebangsaan Malaysia lecturer Dr Marniza Omar as well as International Islamic University Malaysia lecturer and the Malaysian National Society of Audiologists president Assoc Prof Dr Sarah Rahmat.

“20dB’s mission has always been to combine world-class hearing technology with local, heartfelt care.

“This collaboration with KidZania reflects that promise, making hearing care simple to understand, trusted by families and caring at every step.

“By turning learning into play, children not only discover the importance of hearing but also see that solutions like hearing aids are tools for living fully. That is the impact we want to create together.” said Mok.

Sarah welcomed the initiative, noting that hearing loss is often under-diagnosed in children.

“Hearing is like WiFi, when disrupted, information doesn’t reach the brain. If hearing problems occur within the first five years, it can affect education, communication and long-term potential.

“Programmes like this are vital in making hearing care part of the family conversation,” she said.

Malaysia continues to face a shortage of audiologists compared to long-term needs, making early exposure crucial. By introducing audiology as a profession at KidZania, the initiative also helps inspire the next generation of hearing care specialists.

The 20dB Mini Centre reflects the company’s mission of combining world-class hearing technology with heartfelt local care.
