KOTA KINABALU: The state-level Malaysia Day celebration here promises not only entertainment and prizes but also an opportunity for the people to unite in the spirit of togetherness.
State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Christina Liew announced that more than 120 lucky draw prizes are up for grabs at the celebration at Padang Merdeka here tomorrow.
She said Malaysia Day is not just another celebration but a reminder that Sabah, Sarawak and Malaya came together to form Malaysia in 1963.
“From that day, we became one nation and one big family.
“For the people of Sabah, this day is especially important as it reminds us that we are closely connected.”
Liew said the presence of Malaysians at the event will not only make the celebration livelier but also demonstrate the strength of the people.
“This is because the people are truly the heart and soul of the nation, and with all of us together, Malaysia becomes even more meaningful,” she said.
Liew said this year’s celebration places special focus on culture and public participation.
“There will be vibrant local ethnic performances to showcase Sabah’s diversity, interactive exhibitions and community activities to bring people closer.
“It’s not just about watching a show, but also about joining in and feeling the spirit of caring for the people,” she said.
Other highlights include free balloons for kids and a fireworks display to end the celebration.
Those who wish to take part in the lucky draw may register with the organiser during the event.
