Parang-wielding trio arrested for attempted murder following attack in Pasir Gudang

JOHOR BARU: Three local men were arrested in the Seri Alam area near here for allegedly being involved in an attempted murder.

Seri Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the suspects, aged between 25 and 42, were detained on Sept 4, following a report on the case on Sept 3, 2025.

“The victims, two local men aged 27 and 30, were knocked over by a car, causing severe injuries to them,’’ he said in a statement.

ACP Mohd Sohaimi said the victims were then attacked by the parang-wielding suspects at Taman Puteri, Kota Masai, in Pasir Gudang.

“The three suspects were charged by the Johor Baru Sessions Court on Friday (Sept 12) at 9am,’’ he said.

He added that two of the suspects have previous criminal records, while one tested positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code (for attempt to murder), read with Section 34 of the Penal Code (each of several persons liable for an act done by all, in like manner as if done by him alone).

ACP Mohd Sohaimi said the case is also being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), to be read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.

He also reminded the public to refrain from making any speculations or sharing unverified news, which could create misunderstandings and cause unrest in the community.
