J-KOM boosts delivery of Govt policies through strategic communications

IPOH: The Community Communications Department (J-KOM) continues to strengthen its role by supporting state-level government agencies in the implementation of strategic programmes through a more structured and integrated approach.

Its director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop said programmes such as Bakti Muda Jiwa Merdeka at the Health Ministry Training Institute (ILKKM) were part of the satellite initiatives under the Madani Rakyat Programme, organised periodically in each state.

"This programme is more than just an official event; it symbolises the spirit and responsibility of ILKKM trainees as future employees in the public health sector,” he told reporters after the Bakti Muda Jiwa Merdeka programme at the Sultan Azlan Shah ILKKM (ILKKM SAS) here on Thursday (Aug 28).

Also present were political secretary to the Finance Minister Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim and ILKKM SAS deputy director of management Dr S Dhanabalan Sandra.

Meanwhile, Ismail said that J-KOM had deployed officers across several zones to streamline the delivery of information on government policies to the people.

"Perak is in the central zone, which also includes Selangor. We appointed a zone director to act as coordinator, as there was previously no such position in the state. When I came in, I wanted to make implementation easier at the state level, but it’s not a new position.

"This is an important matter I want to highlight...having a state operations director ensures better coordination,” he said, adding that although public understanding of government policies had improved, there were still areas the department needed to address. - Bernama
