Former aide to Home Minister appointed J-Kom chief

PUTRAJAYA: Former special functions officer to the Home Minister, Hisyamuddin Ghazali, has been appointed the director-general of the Community Communications Department (J-Kom).

Hisyamuddin, who is better known as Syam Ghaz, replaces Datuk Ismail Yusop, who will be assigned a new role at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), said Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

“I would like to take this opportunity to first thank Ismail, who has been called to undertake a new assignment at the Prime Minister's Office.

“I welcome Syam Ghaz, who has been selected to lead the communications unit,” Fahmi said during the Communications Ministry's monthly assembly on Monday (June 8).

On Sunday (June 7), Ismail announced the end of his service after more than a year leading the department, saying he will soon take on a new assignment.

Ismail, a former National Civics Bureau (AKM) deputy director (training), was appointed to the post on Jan 15 last year to fill the vacancy left by Dr Mohd Khairuddin Othman, whose service was terminated in September 2023.
